Valiyeva calls for expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation at WUF13

Strengthening parliamentary cooperation among various countries was proposed at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijani MP Parvana Valiyeva stated during the roundtable held within WUF13, Report informs.

The MP emphasized the importance of creating evidence-based data to inform parliamentary debates and guide advocacy for urban resilience: "Parliaments are uniquely positioned to understand how laws work in practice through direct contact with constituents. Over time, effective legislative systems do more than regulate – they can change public behavior, influence mindsets, and contribute to building healthier, more resilient societies. By learning from successful legislative practices and sharing comparative experiences, we can create a valuable guidance base for parliamentarians across different countries and political systems."

Valiyeva stressed that such cooperation would not only enable exchange of ideas but also help develop more effective urban policies together: "Let us continue this parliamentary dialogue – with UN-Habitat and our global partners – not only within this forum but beyond it. Together, we can ensure more people-centered, future-oriented urban legislation and governance."
