Vahan Kostanyan: Yerevan and Baku to work toward signing peace agreement

The peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan has already been agreed upon, and the Armenian side will work together with their Azerbaijani counterparts on its signing and final ratification, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahan Kostanyan told Azerbaijani journalists on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Report informs.

"Armenia and Azerbaijan are already in a state of peace. As for the signing of the agreement, as you know, the document has been initialed, and we will work together with our Azerbaijani counterparts on its signing and final ratification," Kostanyan stated.

He added that Armenia and Azerbaijan have already undertaken political commitments regarding the mutual opening of communications in the region.

"We are currently working in this direction," he noted.

Speaking about the parliamentary elections to be held in June, Kostanyan noted that these are, in fact, the first elections to be held in Armenia in a state of peace.

"And I believe that the Armenian people fully support the peace agenda," he said.

Answering the question regarding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's absence from the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Kostanyan explained this by the political situation within the country.

"There is a sufficiently tense political situation within the country, and today the prime minister attended a parliamentary session," he stated.
