US, Azerbaijan seek connected, prosperous South Caucasus, diplomat says

Cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan is aimed at turning the South Caucasus into a connected region that links East and West, supports trade and economic growth, ensures energy security, and is integrated into the global economy.

Report informs that US Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Amy Carlon said this during a reception marking the 250th anniversary of US independence.

According to her, the historic meeting held in Washington on August 8, 2025, with the participation of the leaders of the United States, Azerbaijan and Armenia, laid the foundation for this goal.

"With the involvement of US President Donald Trump and the international community, Baku and Yerevan gained an opportunity to leave behind decades of conflict. They committed to building a future based not on confrontation, but on connectivity, cooperation and prosperity," the diplomat said.

She noted that new opportunities are already being pursued through the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative, as well as through the US-Azerbaijan strategic partnership.

According to Carlon, the Charter on Strategic Partnership, signed in February by US Vice President JD Vance and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, is based on three pillars: regional connectivity, economic investment and innovation, and security cooperation.

The diplomat stressed that the United States intends to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan in energy, artificial intelligence, data center development and other advanced technologies.

"These are not plans for the distant future - we are already implementing them today," she said.

Carlon recalled that last month, during Baku Energy Week and the US-Azerbaijan Economic Dialogue, American companies signed agreements worth more than $8 billion with Azerbaijani partners in modern materials, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other next-generation technologies.

According to her, thanks to these investments, the TRIPP initiative and deeper security cooperation, the South Caucasus can embark on an irreversible path toward peace.

The diplomat also noted that the United States considers the Azerbaijani people its partner and highly values humanitarian ties between the two countries. She recalled that thousands of Azerbaijani citizens have taken part in US exchange programs, cooperated with local institutions and studied at American universities.

"We were among the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan's independence. Over the past 35 years, the United States has supported investment, dialogue and diplomacy for peace and stability, and will continue working together for a more connected, prosperous and secure future," Carlon said.
