"Azerbaijan can be a model for other countries in the protection of women's rights," Saniye Gülser Corat, UNESCO Director for Gender Equality told French Bureau of Report News Agency.
According to her, Azerbaijan and UNESCO have built relations at a high level and these relations are developing: "First lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva is a UNESCO goodwill Ambassador. The issue of equality between women and men was repeatedly raised at the events organized on the initiative of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan not only did a lot of work on this issue, but was one of the first countries to grant women the right to vote 100 years ago."
