UN-Habitat: More than 2 billion people face housing insecurity

Currently, more than 2 billion people are suffering from lack of housing, Rania Hedaya, a representative of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said at the Assembly of Civic Initiatives and Civil Society Organizations held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, according to Report.

She thanked the civil society institutions for participating in today's event:

"The movement between civil society and the people is of great importance. Diversification is also very important. Large-scale consultations play a very important role. We have achieved significant results from these consultations. Today there are problems related to housing and they continue to persist. These problems will lead to crises at the global level, more than 2 billion people are suffering from homelessness. All these problems can be prevented. We can take important steps in protecting human rights."
