Umakhanov: Putin to participate in Azerbaijani-Russian interregional forum in Baku

Baku. 14 September. REPORT.AZ/ Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in Azerbaijani-Russian interregional forum as part of his visit to Baku.

Report informs citing Vestnik Kavkaza that this was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov.

"The forthcoming interregional forum of Russia and Azerbaijan will be held not just under the auspices of the two presidents, but also with their direct participation. I think that the visit is timed to the forum, and it testifies to the importance of not only the vertical ties between Russia and Azerbaijan, but also the horizontal expansion of cooperation between our states”, the deputy chairman of the Federation Council said.

Thus, according to Umakhanov, Vladimir Putin's visit will show that economy comes first in relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. "Cooperation in the Caspian region is one of the directions for intensifying economic contacts. The Convention signed a month ago has a whole set of directions for economic cross-border interaction. In particular, it is about the active use of the transport infrastructure of our countries, " said Ilyas Umakhanov.

It was reported earlier that the Russian leader would visit Azerbaijan on September 25.
