Umakhanov: Azerbaijan-Russia ties reach new level

The declaration of ally interaction has led the Azerbaijan-Russia ties to a new level, Ilyas Umakhanov, the first deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council Committee on Science, Education, and Culture, told Report.

He noted that the signing of this document had become a landmark political event for both countries.

"The peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan have established traditionally friendly, fraternal ties. And the declaration signing led them to a qualitatively new level. These are the relations of strategic partnership, mutual support, and solidarity.

And I am glad and proud of the fact that this happened during my lifetime. This guarantees that my children, coming here, will feel the same kinship with your people that I feel today," Umakhanov said in Baku.

On February 22, the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, signed the Declaration on Allied Interaction. The declaration contains more than 40 paragraphs on the broadest range of the interaction.
