Ukrainian Congress of Azerbaijan: Russian community clearly disrespects official Baku's position

The Republican Council of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan shows apparent disrespect for the position of the country's authorities, the "Ukrainian Congress of Azerbaijan" Public Organization stated in a response to the statement of the Republican Council of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan.

"This position is clear and unambiguous. Azerbaijan has recognized and continues to acknowledge the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly thanked President Ilham Aliyev for our country's unequivocal and sincere position. The Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Congress is watching the terrible consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine with concern and heartache. Millions of Ukrainian civilians have become refugees. The Russian Armed Forces are bombing Mariupol, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel, Kherson, Kyiv, Odessa, and other Ukrainian cities. Unfortunately, the city of Mariupol has almost been wiped off the face of the earth. Mariupol is Aghdam, Hiroshima of Ukraine," the statement noted.

Azərbaycan Rus İcması Respublika Şurasının bəyanatını qətiyyətlə pisləyirik”, - AUK-un bəyanatında deyilir.

The statement says: "We are convinced that the truth is on the side of Ukraine. Just as the Azerbaijani army won the 44-day Patriotic War, this truth will endure and win. The Azerbaijani army was waging a war of liberation against the Armenian aggressors. The Ukrainian army is repelling attacks by the Russian military on its territory.

"The Republican Council of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan decided to distort this obvious fact and made a statement that grossly distorted the essence of the tragic events in Ukraine. Attempts to portray a significant part of the Ukrainian population as fascists are disgusting. In the last elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2019, none of the radicals won the required 5% of the vote. Even in European democracies, there is no such low result. The first person of the state is a Russian-speaking Ukrainian citizen of Jewish origin. With the exception of a small group of nationalists, almost 40 million Ukrainians cannot find them in their home countries. Thousands of kilometers away, their numbers are seen as enormous.

"We strongly condemn the statement of the Republican Council of the Azerbaijani Russian Community," the statement said.
