Ukraine and Azerbaijan are interested in expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector, increasing bilateral trade turnover, attracting Azerbaijani investments into Ukraine's agro‑industry, and developing new trade opportunities.
According to Report's Eastern Europe bureau, this was highlighted during a meeting between Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi and Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev.
The sides discussed the need to restore bilateral trade volumes to the pre‑war level of about $1 billion annually. The Azerbaijani side emphasized that the agricultural sector could play a key role in achieving this goal.
Azerbaijani representatives also proposed using Ukraine's logistical capabilities more actively, not only for direct supply of Ukrainian agricultural products to Azerbaijan but also for expanding deliveries to Central Asia and the Middle East.
Vysotskyi stressed Ukraine's interest in the practical development of these opportunities: "We are ready to work jointly with the Azerbaijani side on such projects."
The meeting also addressed preparations for the upcoming session of the Azerbaijan–Ukraine Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, scheduled for late November.
The Azerbaijani side suggested using this platform to organize B2B meetings between companies from both countries in specific sectors, as well as arranging visits to Ukrainian regions to explore potential investment projects.
