The cities of Trabzon, Türkiye and Shusha, Azerbaijan's symbolic city, will officially become twin cities, said Ahmet Metin Genç, Mayor of Trabzon, according to Report.
He stated that a protocol will be signed between the two cities to formalize the partnership.
Speaking at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Genç emphasized that the right to housing and the climate crisis cannot be considered separately.
The mayor, using Trabzon as an example, drew attention to the impact of housing on energy consumption and carbon emissions, stressing the importance of low‑carbon, disaster‑resilient, and socially just urban policies for sustainable cities.
