Turkish ambassador comments on possibility of joining Customs Union

Baku. 30 August. REPORT.AZ/ Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Erkan Özoral commented on reports that Turkey can join the Customs Union.

Report informs, in a statement to journalists the ambassador said that there is no exact decision on the issue.

"This is an economic and political issue, it will be carefully assessed, after which a final decision will be made", he said.

As the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated at the meeting of Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Minsk (2013), Turkish President Abdullah Gül asked him to join the Customs Union.

The Customs Union within the Eurasian Economic Community currently includes Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
