Tu Anh Tuan: Slowing global economic growth increases risks to the world financial system

Economic security is facing threats of protectionism and the securitization of crises, Tu Anh Tuan, Acting Director of the Center for Security and Development Studies of the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam,  said at the 13th session of the CICA Think Tank Forum in Baku.

According to Report, he emphasized that the modern global economy faces a dilemma: on the one hand, economic security should ensure the growth and prosperity of countries by strengthening their national stability, but on the other hand, tendencies toward protectionism and export controls are increasing, while economic instruments are turning into a tool of pressure.

"We are witnessing an unprecedented phenomenon-the securitization of economic crises. When economic instruments are turned into weapons, this threatens the very foundation of an interconnected world," the expert said.

According to him, the slowdown of global economic growth, "decoupling" policies, and declining trust in international institutions are increasing risks to the global financial system and supply chains.
