Tajikistan calls for development of multimodal transport routes

Further development of multimodal routes connecting China, Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan with European markets is of great importance for strengthening regional transport connectivity, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said.

According to Report's correspondent in Turkmenistan, Rahmon made the remarks at the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian Countries and Azerbaijan.

He said Tajikistan's transport and transit capabilities have expanded significantly in recent years due to the construction and modernization of roads, bridges and railway infrastructure.

"Further development of multimodal routes connecting China, Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan with European markets is of great importance for strengthening the region's transport connectivity," Rahmon said.

He emphasized the need to effectively address administrative, infrastructure and organizational barriers, simplify transport procedures and digitalize freight transportation.

According to Rahmon, particular attention should also be paid to digital transformation.

"In this regard, we note the importance of the regional artificial intelligence center being established in Dushanbe. We expect its activities to help bring together the innovative potential of the countries of the region and accelerate the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into various sectors of the economy and social sphere," the Tajik president said.
