Syrko: Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk region has received more than 150,000 displaced persons

Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast has received more than 150,000 internally displaced persons since the beginning of the full-scale war, while around 20,000 beds were deployed for temporary accommodation, Deputy Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Administration Liudmyla Syrko said at WUF13 in Baku.

Report quotes her as saying that from the first days of the war, the region, together with territorial communities, public and religious organizations, charitable foundations, and the private sector, established a headquarters for accommodating displaced persons, which provided transit and medium-term housing, food, and medical assistance when necessary.

Syrko noted that today the work has become systematic and predictable, as the authorities already understand the needs of arriving groups.

"We clearly understand who is arriving - families with children, elderly people, people with disabilities, and individuals living alone. This allows us to coordinate accommodation more accurately and make better use of available housing capacities within the communities," she said.

She added that around 50 temporary accommodation facilities are currently operating in the region, with a total capacity of approximately 2,508 people, although a shortage of long-term housing remains.
