The 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) serves as an important platform for discussing global challenges and building partnerships, said David Perejil, Director-General for the 2030 Agenda at Spain"s Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda.
According to Report, Perejil made the remarks at the event "Cities on the Front Line of Forced Displacement: Governance for Inclusivity and Resilience," held within the framework of WUF13.
He noted that housing financing in Southern Europe and the link between housing policy and climate change are of particular importance.
"We must follow a human rights- and international law-based approach. This is the position of the Government of Spain on all issues," he said.
Perejil also stressed that housing remains one of the key global challenges, adding that Spain is working within the international agenda while prioritizing quality over quantity in housing development.
He said the country is also strengthening its data and monitoring systems and addressing both climate adaptation and housing needs simultaneously.
