Somalia considers implementation of New Urban Agenda as one of its key national priorities

Somalia views the implementation of the New Urban Agenda as a key national priority, particularly in the context of urbanization, social inclusion, and support for vulnerable groups, a representative of Somalia said at a ministerial roundtable during WUF13 in Baku.

According to Report, he noted the importance of international cooperation and the work of the co-chairs, as well as the organizers' efforts to facilitate dialogue among participants on urban policy and housing.

"I would like to acknowledge the spirit of cooperation demonstrated through the co-chairmanship and support of the organizers, as well as the open-ended housing committee, which facilitates stronger interaction and discussion on urban development policies," he said.

According to him, the New Urban Agenda remains a key framework for achieving sustainable urban development and is closely aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 11.

He emphasized that implementing this agenda requires a people-centered approach to urban policy, with an emphasis on social inclusion, poverty alleviation, and economic empowerment.
