Sahiba Gafarova, Ahmed Al-Jarwan discuss parliamentary cooperation

Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on June 22 with Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, who is visiting Azerbaijan to attend the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States.

The Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told Report that the meeting noted the important role of the Parliamentary Union in further deepening relations among Muslim countries and their legislative bodies. Confidence was expressed that the 20th session of the organization, to be held in Baku, would be successfully organized. It was also noted that the event would make a valuable contribution to the future activities of the PUIC.

During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on cooperation between Azerbaijan's parliament and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, the parliamentary dimension of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.

It was noted that the memorandum of understanding signed between the Milli Majlis and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace creates favorable opportunities for further expanding relations between the sides.

The meeting also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
