Russian publication: Azerbaijan achieved brilliant victory over French neocolonialism

The Russian newspaper Vzglyad published an article dedicated to the unprecedented autonomy granted to New Caledonia, for the decolonization of which Azerbaijan has long fought.

As Report informs, the author of the article points to a list of defeats of French President Emmanuel Macron in the foreign policy arena and expresses concern about the strengthening of Azerbaijan's geopolitical influence.

In particular, the article notes that it was under President Macron that the collapse of the remnants of the French colonial empire "took the form of a landslide."

"Under him, the French were expelled from Mali, CAR, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad... Gabon is also unstable, and besides it, France's significant military presence in Africa remains only in tiny Djibouti," the author points out.

The author of the article notes that despite the long-standing confrontation between Russia and EU countries, including France, it was Baku, not the Kremlin, that managed to inflict significant reputational and political damage on Macron.

"However, taking credit for others' achievements is dishonorable: New Caledonia was not taken from the French by us. It was the guys from Baku <...>. The fight against French neocolonialism has indeed been successful," the author indicates.

The article notes that France is reaping the storm, the wind of which was sown during the support for Armenia during the occupation of Karabakh, during the second Karabakh war, and after the liberation of Azerbaijani territories.

"Azerbaijanis are taking revenge on the French for supporting Armenians before, during, and after the Karabakh conflict," the author emphasizes.

At the same time, the author expresses concern, as the demonstration of Azerbaijan's capabilities against French colonialism and the victory in the Karabakh war also speaks of potentially possible influence on Russia, which has recently begun to oppress ethnic Azerbaijanis.

"The only thing that bothers me is that this is, no matter how you look at it, also a victory for Azerbaijan. And Azerbaijan already has too long a series of victories over Armenia in Karabakh, over Pashinyan in Zangazur, etc. This makes the complex southern character even more complex and explosive, inspiring adventures. Recent events have shown that Azerbaijan can use anti-colonial rhetoric and influence not only against France. It can also be used against Russia," the author concludes.
