Rossbach: Ministerial meeting - opportunity to identify further steps in sustainable urbanization

The Ministerial Meeting on the New Urban Agenda is an important opportunity to take stock of the first decade of the program's implementation and identify next steps in sustainable urbanization, Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said at the Ministerial Meeting dedicated to the New Urban Agenda, according to Report.

"This ministerial meeting is a significant platform for taking stock of the first decade of implementation and placing affordable housing at the center of the next decade of urban transformation," she said.

She stated that UN-Habitat stands ready to support member states and partners in implementing the agenda. She also noted that the organization's new strategic plan focuses on key areas of sustainable urbanization.

Rossbach added that the opening of discussions at the meeting should facilitate the active participation of ministers and all delegates.
