The World Health Organization's (WHO) cooperation with Azerbaijan is already delivering concrete results, said Robb Butler, Special Representative of the WHO Regional Director for Europe, during the presentation of the project Digital Care for Citizen Health: Medical Digital Twin System, Report informs.
According to him, WHO highly values its relations with Azerbaijan: "Our cooperation is already producing concrete results. Over the past year, WHO has supported the digitalization of the country's immunization information system and enabled real-time monitoring of cold chain equipment (refrigerators, freezers, and transport containers used to store vaccines and other temperature-sensitive medical products – ed.) across the country."
Butler noted that support is also being provided for the creation of emergency medical teams, with their international accreditation expected to be achieved by the end of this year:
"At the same time, we are closely cooperating with institutions to update the curricula of medical and nursing schools in line with the new vaccination schedule. This is an important step toward strengthening the capacity of the healthcare workforce in the future. Azerbaijan also hosts the only WHO collaborating center on tuberculosis control in prisons, contributing not only to national but also global knowledge and expertise in this field."
