The West doesn't show the same approach for Azerbaijan as it does for Ukraine, Taras Kuzio, an associate research fellow of the Henry Jackson Society, said at a seminar organized by the Center for International Relations Analysis (CIRA) in Baku in a hybrid format themed "War crimes against Azerbaijan".
"They try to present Azerbaijan as an unjust party in the public position of the Western world," he said.
According to Kuzio, this is also the result of the activities of the Armenian diaspora:
"Double standards against Muslims are also evident in the West. It is a fact that nearly 4,000 Azerbaijanis are missing. But very few people in the West know this. Also, about 1 million people became refugees. I was seriously persecuted for my research on the mentioned issues. They threatened me because they could be exposed as a result of the research."
The scientist compared what is happening in Ukraine today with the First and Second Karabakh wars:
"Russia also occupied 20 percent of Ukraine. Now Western countries call Russia an aggressor. They do not treat Armenia like that."
