Rashad Nabiyev: Transit traffic between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan rises 17% in 8 months

Transit traffic between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan increased by 17% in the first eight months of 2026, Azerbaijan's Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said at an event in Baku marking the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's Independence Day.

"Transit traffic between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan increased by 17% in the first eight months of this year," the minister said, as quoted by Report.

He noted that bilateral trade turnover increased by 84% in 2025 and that this trend has continued this year.

"Compared with the same period in 2025, our trade turnover increased by 31% in the first seven months of this year," Nabiyev said.

He also noted that cooperation in transport and cargo transportation is expanding year by year. According to the minister, cooperation in digital development is also progressing alongside transport cooperation. Many Azerbaijani companies currently provide their services in Tajikistan.

"Alongside cooperation in the economic and transport sectors, we are also successfully developing cultural and friendly ties between our countries," Nabiyev emphasized.
