Randy Cole: Azerbaijani graduates of US universities important for developing cooperation

Azerbaijani graduates of American universities play a key role in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Randy Cole, Cultural Affairs Officer at the US Embassy in Baku, told journalists on the sidelines of the annual alumni gala, according to Report.

"Tonight we have gathered to celebrate the Alumni Association of those who studied in the United States, as well as more than 8,000 Azerbaijani graduates of US government programs. This year we are also marking the 85th anniversary of the International Visitor Leadership Program-one of the most prestigious and effective exchange initiatives of the US government. We are pleased to welcome several hundred alumni from different programs and generations.

Our alumni are at the very center of US-Azerbaijan relations. They bring people and communities together. Their work across the country-in Ganja, Lankaran, Shaki, and other cities-strengthens ties between our peoples and brings tangible positive changes to the lives of local communities," he said.

According to Cole, strengthening bilateral relations in the field of education is particularly important in the current period following the Washington Summit of August 8.

"This work takes on special significance after the signing of the peace agreement mediated by US President Donald Trump at the White House on August 8. As Azerbaijan and Armenia open a new chapter, the contributions of our alumni will play a central role in ensuring that peace is consolidated and creates opportunities for future generations," he added.
