Ramil Hasan: South Caucasus becoming platform for major transport projects

The South Caucasus region is turning into a favorable platform for the implementation of large‑scale projects that could serve as a common transport corridor, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), Ramil Hasan, stated during the 67th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (PABSEC) in Georgia, Report informs.

He stated that a new stage is beginning in the region: "Steps taken to elevate relations between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Türkiye will contribute to transforming the Black Sea and Caspian basins into zones of peace, strengthening economic prosperity and energy security. We can confidently say that our region is becoming a favorable platform for major projects that can play the role of a common transport corridor."

Hasan emphasized that successful implementation of such projects requires parliamentary diplomacy and joint efforts by parliamentarians, national parliaments, and parliamentary assemblies. He underlined the importance he attaches to developing relations between TURKPA and PABSEC.

The Secretary General also noted that artificial intelligence issues are spreading widely across the world and stressed the need for legislative structures and laws in TURKPA and PABSEC member countries to introduce new amendments that would maximize the positive impact of AI on interstate relations and citizens' welfare.
