Rafiyev stresses need for unity on climate goals

It is important for countries to unite around common goals in the fight against climate change, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev said at the Fourth Climate Week (CW4) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Report informs.

He said the strength and success of the Paris Agreement would not be limited to the commitments made by Azerbaijan, and that the process would be taken further.

"COP29 identified transparency as one of its priorities and encouraged parties to submit their first Biennial Transparency Reports. Our work in this area did not end with COP29. Through the Baku Global Climate Transparency Platform, we are supporting the incoming presidency and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat in the ETF process and in preparing the second Biennial Transparency Reports," Rafiyev said.

"The key issue is to demonstrate that we are turning the commitments we have made into reality," he added.
