Raši invites Azerbaijani parliament speaker to Bratislava

Speaker of the National Council of Slovakia Richard Raši has invited Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova to pay an official visit to Bratislava.

According to Report, Raši made the remarks during a joint press conference with Gafarova in Baku.

"Dear Madam Speaker, dear colleagues, I sincerely thank you once again for today's important meeting and constructive dialogue, and I look forward to further cooperation and your visit to Slovakia," he said.

Raši also emphasized his satisfaction that the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Slovakia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on interparliamentary cooperation earlier the same day.

He noted that the main purpose of his visit to Baku is to strengthen relations between the two countries' parliaments, adding that both sides had agreed to further deepen cooperation between legislative bodies at all levels.

The Speaker also recalled that the current meeting is a continuation of Speaker Sahiba Gafarova's visit to Slovakia in 2021.

According to him, parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role, as parliaments serve as "important bridges between peoples."
