Prospects for Azerbaijan-US strategic partnership discussed

On July 7, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Senator Steve Daines, Member of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Report informs.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-US strategic partnership, the agenda of political and economic cooperation, energy security, regional connectivity projects, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The sides emphasized the importance of developing high-level contacts and political dialogue between the two countries to expand mutually beneficial cooperation. They also discussed Azerbaijan's growing role as a reliable partner in energy security, transport, and logistics, and exchanged views on initiatives for the development of the Middle Corridor and East-West transport routes.

During the discussion on regional connectivity and economic cooperation, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted the dynamic development of Azerbaijan's cooperation with the countries of Central Asia, highlighting the new opportunities offered by the C6 cooperation format. He emphasized that Azerbaijan has become one of the key transport and trade hubs in Eurasia thanks to the strengthening of East-West connections via the Caspian Sea, the development of the Middle Corridor, and the logistics and industrial infrastructure created around the Baku International Sea Trade Port.

The sides reviewed the current situation in the South Caucasus in the post-conflict period, the Azerbaijan-Armenia reconciliation process, and the peace agenda. During the meeting, Azerbaijani FM briefed Steve Daines on the ongoing large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, as well as the opportunities created by the opening of transport and communication lines in the region for regional cooperation and economic integration.
