President: Azerbaijan's decision to jointly develop Dostlug field with Turkmenistan is historic

"I assess Azerbaijan's decision to jointly develop the Dostlug field with Turkmenistan as a historic decision. We made this decision proceeding from the national interests of both countries, our fraternal relations," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore's reporter Roberto Bongiorni on September 2 in the city of Cernobbio, Report informs.

Commenting on the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, the head of state noted that this is not a project of Azerbaijan:

"As for our oil and gas projects, they have all been implemented. Now we are working on a project to export electricity to Europe, but the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project is based on the resources of Turkmenistan. Therefore, if the government of Turkmenistan decides to build a Trans-Caspian pipeline, it will be their decision. If they make such a decision, of course, we will support them."
