"And, of course, today we spoke in detail about the post-conflict situation in the region," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on February 22.
"We are grateful to Russia and personally to President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin for the role in ending the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia and in efforts on post-conflict settlement," the head of state noted.
"As I have already noted, President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin played an important role in ending the war and shifting the settlement from the hot phase to the phase of political settlement. And today, Russia is our main partner in searching for ways to normalize ties between Azerbaijan and Armenia. There are opportunities for this. Azerbaijan repeatedly voiced its readiness to launch work on the peace treaty, which will cover the issues of specifying borders, delimitation, and other issues that are necessary for any countries that want to settle relations between themselves," Ilham Aliyev said.
