President: Armenian government promoting Nazis

“This man, the Armenian fascist Garegin Nzhdeh, was a fascist. This man was a killer. This man killed innocent Azerbaijanis and then soldiers and officers of the Soviet army during the Second World War,” President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with AZERTAC during his visit to Ganja on January 30, Report informs.

“This Nzhdeh is a fascist and everyone should know that. But he is still glorified in Armenia. If it was only about the previous fascist government, it would be half the trouble. But, unfortunately, the current Armenian government promotes and protects the Nazis too. Holding this intolerable action in Moscow through the Armenian Diaspora Organization does not fit into any framework. Because Russia itself, like Azerbaijan, is at the forefront of the struggle against the glorification of fascism. There has repeatedly been an exchange of views with Russia on this issue. We agree at the level of presidents, other officials, public organizations. Fascism must not be allowed to rise. Attempts to distort the history of the Second World War must be stopped. This policy will lead the world to the abyss. Fascism cannot be made heroic. But on the one hand, although Armenia officially joins these views, in fact, it is taking concrete steps to heroize a fascist like Nzhdeh. To date, there are streets, squares and a metro station in Armenia and Yerevan named after the Nazi Nzhdeh, and a large six-meter monument has been erected to him. This monument has not been demolished yet,” the Azerbaijani president stressed.
