Armenia committed systematic war crimes against Azerbaijani civilians and military personnel of Azerbaijan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Astana.
The head of state said that as a result of victory in the Second Karabakh War two years ago, Azerbaijan liberated its territories from Armenian occupation, put an end to the Karabakh conflict that continued for three decades, ensuring justice and implementation of the four resolutions of the UN Security Council, adopted in 1993 and demanding the unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
The settlements where Azerbaijani citizens lived, Azerbaijan's cultural and religious monuments, mosques were deliberately destroyed and looted during almost 30 years of Armenian occupation. Even mosques were used as animal stalls, the head of state said.
According to him, these destructions and Armenian vandals, war criminals were glorified and presented as heroes in Armenia.
