Europe's colonial powers are carrying out urbicide in colonial territories, Parvana Valiyeva, a deputy of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly of Azerbaijan), said in her statement to Report within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
According to her, Azerbaijan supports peoples suffering from colonialism in solving global problems:
"The Baku Initiative Group carries out unique work in this direction. Representatives, organizations, academic circles, and think tanks of those peoples unite around the Baku Initiative Group and strive to make their voices heard by the world."
The deputy stated that the conduct of nuclear tests in French Polynesia negatively affects urbanization:
"For example, the excessive artisanal exploitation of nickel in New Caledonia destroys the entire urban infrastructure. The Baku Initiative Group also brought these issues to the agenda during COP29. It was emphasized that Europe's colonial powers are carrying out not only ecological terror against the environment in these territories, but even urbicide."
