Pakistani Embassy in Azerbaijan marks Independence Day

The Pakistani Embassy in Azerbaijan organized an event marking the 79th anniversary of Pakistan's independence, Report informs.
Employees of the diplomatic mission, representatives of the Pakistani community and guests attended the event.
The ceremony began with the raising of Pakistan's national flag.
Messages from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing the special significance of Independence Day for the Pakistani people, were then read out to the participants.
Speaking at the event, Pakistan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin spoke about the historical significance of the country's independence and reaffirmed its commitment to peace, dialogue and interstate cooperation.
"Pakistan has always supported peace, dialogue and cooperation among peoples. We intend to continue strengthening our institutions and national unity and developing our country's potential," the ambassador said.
The ambassador also noted the expansion of Pakistan's diplomatic, economic and defense cooperation with other states.
According to him, Islamabad seeks to contribute to ensuring peace and stability both in the region and around the world.
