Ombudsman: Support for Ukraine's missing reflects Azerbaijan's humanitarian policy

Providing methodological support in the search for missing persons in Ukraine is a manifestation of Azerbaijan's humanitarian solidarity, international cooperation, and respect for human life, Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, said in a post on Facebook, Report informs.

"It is gratifying that Azerbaijan's professionalism and modern genetic identification capabilities in this field are now gaining international trust," Aliyeva mentioned.

The Ombudsman also pointed out that clarifying the fate of missing persons is among the highest expressions of respect for families' right to know the truth, the protection of human dignity, and commitment to humanitarian values.

"Even when conflicts end, families continue to suffer for years, waiting for news of their loved ones. Each has the right to learn their fate, to bury them with dignity, and to end prolonged uncertainty. Ensuring this right is one of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law," she added.
