Observer says no complaints of election violations recorded

Today's elections are held in strict accordance with the legislation of Azerbaijan and the country's international obligations to ensure and comply with generally recognized standards.

Report informs that the statement came from Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Council of the Federation of Russia on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, member of the observation mission of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Alexander Bashkin.

According to him, observers from the Assembly attended the opening of the polling station today, and then visited many others.

"An amiable and calm atmosphere at polling stations drew attention. There was no conflict or negative aura. Though there are many observers from various parties and candidates competing with each other, the general attitude towards the process is very positive and responsible. Nevertheless, none of them noticed any violations, and no complaints were received. There were no complaints from voters either. I know Azerbaijan's election law well, and I see that all requirements of the law are strictly followed," Bashkin said.
