Nikorn Soemkhlang: WUF13 participants approach forum seriously

Most leaders and members of national delegations are participating in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) with a high degree of responsibility and a serious attitude toward the global urban agenda, Thailand's Minister of Social Development and Human Security Nikorn Soemklang stated in an interview with Report on the sidelines of WUF13.

Speaking about his expectations from WUF13, the minister noted that he hopes for more active promotion of the New Urban Agenda at the international level and strengthening the practical implementation of adopted decisions.

"I would expect that at the global level we can more actively promote the new agenda in order to implement plans, including in our country," Soemklang said.

According to him, Thai authorities pay special attention to supporting low-income citizens and workers who do not have their own housing.

"Especially in Thailand, we have significant programs for people with low income levels and workers who do not have housing," the minister noted.

He also emphasized that Thailand intends to continue increasing efforts to provide housing for socially vulnerable categories of the population.
