Nga Kor Ming: 2.8 billion people face global housing crisis

According to calculations by the UN‑Habitat Programme, 2.8 billion people worldwide are facing a global housing crisis, living in informal settlements, Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia, and President of UN-Habitat Assembly, said at the opening ceremony of WUF13, Report informs.
He called on participants to intensify efforts in this regard: "Our common goal in this matter must be united. We are not alone in this struggle. Let us double our efforts and carry out consistent and sustainable work within the framework of the New Urban Agenda."
Nga Kor Ming also noted that Malaysia has valuable experience in this field: "Malaysia's path aligns with the New Urban Agenda. We have succeeded in creating 1.1 million affordable homes (77%). In addition, we have planted 115 million trees, achieving our greening targets."
