Nekhamia Michaeli: Heydar Aliyev laid foundation for strong friendship with Israel

The National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, laid the cornerstone for the enduring and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Israel, Nekhamia Shirin Michaeli, the head of the Mountain Jewish community in the Israeli city of Acre, said during a meeting with representatives of the Coordination Center of Mountain Jews.

Report informs via Stmegi that Michaeli said it is owing to Heydar Aliyev's farsighted policy that the Jewish people have lived in Azerbaijan in a secure and harmonious environment:

"President Ilham Aliyev, Heydar Aliyev's successor, continues this political path, strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. Azerbaijan is a close and reliable friend to Israel — a sentiment echoed by every Jew who has visited the Azerbaijani land."

The event also featured remarks by Pavel Elizarov, advisor to Israel's Minister of Defense, who reaffirmed the strong and growing ties between Baku and Tel Aviv.
