Nargiz Gurbanova highlights prospects for Azerbaijan-Germany economic ties

The Azerbaijan-Germany Business Council could become an important platform for identifying new investment opportunities and promoting joint projects, Azerbaijani diplomat Nargiz Gurbanova said at an event marking German Unity Day.

According to Report, Gurbanova said economic cooperation between the two countries had significant potential.

"Our economic cooperation has great prospects. The recently established Azerbaijan-Germany Business Council can become an important platform for identifying new investment and business opportunities, as well as promoting joint projects," she said.

Gurbanova noted that Azerbaijan-Germany relations had entered a dynamic stage of development in recent years, based on active political dialogue and mutual trust.

"Azerbaijan, which regards Germany as a key and reliable partner, attaches particular importance to the comprehensive development of bilateral interstate relations and cooperation," she added.

The diplomat emphasized that the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Agenda of the Bilateral Partnership during President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to Germany in July this year had laid the foundation for a qualitatively new stage in interstate relations - strategic partnership.

She also highlighted the importance of bilateral documents signed during the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum held in Baku in September for the further development of economic cooperation.

"Our cooperation in the energy sector is expanding. This year, Azerbaijan began exporting natural gas to Germany. Azerbaijani gas is now supplied to 10 European Union countries. In this way, we are making an important contribution to Europe's energy security," Gurbanova said.

According to her, humanitarian cooperation also plays an important role in strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries.

She noted that German is among the most widely studied foreign languages in Azerbaijan and that thousands of Azerbaijanis have studied in Germany. The Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Berlin also plays an important role in promoting the cultures of both countries.

"We are confident that the mutual trust and strategic agenda established between Azerbaijan and Germany will open new areas of cooperation and contribute both to the further development of our bilateral relations and to strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and the EU," Gurbanova said.
