Local youth initiatives, including digital tools and platforms, are becoming an important element in the transformation of agri-food systems and public administration in African countries, Nakita Aboya, Director of the World Food Forum (WFF) Cameroon, said at a panel discussion at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
According to her, one key example is a digital app for smallholder farmers that directly connects producers with global buyers and markets.
"This app was developed to connect smallholder farmers with global markets so they can sell their produce," she noted.
Aboya emphasized that the implementation of such solutions increases farmers' incomes and has a multiplier effect on local community development. She also noted that the model has been scaled up in Côte d'Ivoire through WFF.
