MP: Trump’s efforts to ensure peace in South Caucasus deserve high praise

US President Donald Trump’s attention to the region as part of his ongoing peacekeeping mission, as well as his efforts to ensure peace and progress in the South Caucasus amid ongoing global conflicts, deserve high praise, MP Zaur Shukurov told Report.

According to him, in this context, special attention should be paid to President Ilham Aliyev’s proposal for a joint appeal by Azerbaijan and Armenia to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Such prestigious international awards should be given to leaders who have made a real contribution to establishing lasting peace. Both President Trump and other international actors should be assessed objectively when they take significant steps to reduce tensions and promote dialogue. We are confident that the Nobel Peace Committee will make a fair decision, considering Trump’s role and efforts in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, ensuring long-term peace between them, as well as the joint appeals of the two countries on this matter,” he said.
