MP: Attacks on Azerbaijanis in Russia - tool of pressure on Azerbaijan

Criminal operations carried out by Russian law enforcement agencies against Azerbaijanis living in Yekaterinburg are a clear example of Russian chauvinism, Azerbaijani MP Hikmat Babaoglu told Report.

He noted that if previously certain reasons were sought for oppressing and punishing Azerbaijanis, now Russian chauvinism has become so aggressive that in this country, they attack, arrest and use violence against any Azerbaijani without any reason: "All this shows that in fact this attack is not connected with any crime committed by Azerbaijanis, Russia is simply trying to put pressure on Azerbaijan."

The deputy explained this by the fact that Russia does not want to accept the new realities created by Azerbaijan: "This actually reveals the essence of Russian imperialism. It is obvious that Russia still views independent countries in the post-Soviet space as its vassals, and these territories as an element of the geography of national security. However, such ideas are wrong - the train has long since left. It is no longer possible to form a security belt in the post-Soviet space."

Babaoglu also noted that Russia is a multinational state where dozens of peoples live. Therefore, according to him, until ethnic hatred leads to an explosion similar to the detonation of a powder keg, the Russian Federation must act rationally. Otherwise, it will suffer the greatest damage itself.
