MP: Agreements in Washington deal another blow to those making anti-Azerbaijani statements

The agreements reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington have dealt a significant blow to those who previously made biased statements against Baku, Zahid Oruj, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis and a member of parliament, told Report.

According to him, following Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War, a new geopolitical reality has formed in the region, which has led to increased attacks on the country from several states and international organizations—far more intense than during the period of occupation.

He added that after the US meeting, Frank Pallone, Adam Schiff, and others who once made prejudiced statements against Azerbaijan suffered another setback: “They used the 907th amendment to exert pressure on Baku. On August 8, at the White House summit, this amendment was repealed. The children of those who authored this decision in 1992 now hold certain positions in Congress. But Donald Trump’s position is so strong that these forces cannot influence it.”

Zahid Oruj emphasized that after the publication of the documents initialed by Azerbaijan and Armenia, another blow will be dealt to those trying to exploit this issue. “The processes initiated to form a new world order, a new system of international relations, and global security have started precisely under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev,” concluded the MP.
