The Sikh Federation hopes to reach agreements with the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and Azerbaijan, International Sikh Federation Chairman Moninder Singh told journalists in Baku, Report informs.
He stated that the organization has high hopes for cooperation with the Baku Initiative Group and the government of Azerbaijan, and the event in Baku is viewed as a manifestation of global solidarity and a platform for international dialogue.
"The Baku Initiative Group, the government of Azerbaijan, the country's media, and the academic community supported the idea that people should have a voice. The Global South is developing, and dialogue should be conducted at the international level," he noted.
Singh also emphasized the Sikh community's historical ties to the region, stating that Sikh travelers and religious figures have visited Azerbaijan for centuries. He specifically mentioned the Ateshgah fire temple, where, he said, Sikh spiritual leaders stayed and where inscriptions in Punjabi remain.
"We hope to sign agreements and reach mutual understanding with the Baku Initiative Group and the government of Azerbaijan," he added.
