Mngomezulu: Digitalization crucial for development of African countries

African countries can leverage Azerbaijan's experience in digital transformation and technological development to accelerate their own growth, Eswatini's Non-Resident Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu, said at the Africa Day 2026 conference: "Rising Continent, Emerging Partnerships" in Baku, Report informs.

"We see Azerbaijan's technological development and understand that digital transformation is crucial for Africa's sustainable growth and development," he noted.

According to the diplomat, Africa's population is approximately 1.3 billion, making the continent a huge potential market for trade and economic cooperation.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan's strategic location between Asia and Europe makes the country an important crossroads of trade routes and creates significant opportunities for expanding cooperation with African countries.

"We consider it crucial to strengthen partnerships in areas such as agriculture and agro-industrial chains," Mngomezulu stated.

According to him, food security and food sovereignty are key to Africa's independent development and the implementation of the African Union's strategic program, Agenda 2063.

The ambassador also noted the importance of cooperation in energy, energy transition, and green transformation.
