Romania is the second country to recognize Azerbaijan's independence, and strategic partnership relations exist between the two countries, stated the President of the Romanian Senate, Mircea Abrudean, at an event dedicated to Azerbaijan's Independence Day in Bucharest, Report informs.

"Romania was the first European Union (EU) state to understand the strategic importance of the country by signing the Strategic Partnership Declaration with Azerbaijan in September 2009," he noted.

Abrudean pointed out that Azerbaijani investments play an important role in Romania's energy infrastructure, including digital infrastructure projects and green energy, and that both countries are partners on a common path in a world full of challenges.
