The burning of the Azerbaijani flag in Yerevan is an extremely regrettable incident, the head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Peter Michalko, told Report.
According to him, sporting events are an opportunity to unite around common values, such as mutual respect and understanding, and to bring people together despite differences.
"The EU will continue to work to maintain peace and stability in the South Caucasus," Michalko said.
On April 14, the flag of Azerbaijan was burned at the opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championship in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan.
Mixalko: “İrəvanda Azərbaycan bayrağının yandırılması son dərəcə acınacaqlı hadisədir”
