Masoud Pezeshkian: ECO summit is opportunity to condemn recent attacks on Iran

The ECO summit is an opportunity to condemn the recent attacks on Iran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said at the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) held in Khankendi, Report informs.

According to Pezeshkian, the attacks on Iran resulted in many casualties, and the country also suffered significant material damage.

"Of course, our armed forces, in accordance with Article 57 of the United Nations Charter, legitimately defending the people of Iran, its national sovereignty, the territorial integrity of the country, prevented the spread of war in the region," he said.

The Iranian president expressed gratitude to the officials of the regional countries, the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for their position during the recent crisis. At the same time, he stressed that many regional and global organizations and blocs have not demonstrated a decisive position in condemning the attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran. "Therefore, the ECO summit is an opportunity to condemn the recent attacks," Pezeshkian added.
