A new order cannot be built without the participation of women and youth, Madina Igibayeva, an expert on military and political issues at the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), said at an event within the 13th meeting of the CICA Think Tank Forum in Baku, Report informs.
"This session focuses on new forces, in particular, women and youth. Their participation is a necessity, not an addition. A new order cannot be built based only on old paradigms," Igibayeva noted.
According to her, the formation of a new Asian order is the main challenge of our time.
"In the era of multipolarity, the role of Asia is undeniable: it is the engine of global growth, the center of innovation and the cradle of ancient civilizations. But along with this influence comes enormous responsibility," she emphasized.
Igibayeva added that development and security are two sides of the same coin: the lack of security hinders development, and unfulfilled development tasks turn into security threats.
She noted that the recent approval of the draft regulations of the CICA Security Council was an important step along this path.
According to Igibayeva, this is not just the creation of a new body, but the institutionalization of a gender approach as the basis for confidence-building measures.
