Kyrgyzstan proposes joint tourism routes with Central Asia, Azerbaijan

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov has proposed developing joint tourism routes linking the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan.

According to Report's correspondent in Turkmenistan, Japarov made the proposal at the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian Countries and Azerbaijan (C5+1) in Avaza.

He said the routes could be developed based on the "one journey - several countries" principle and called for developing a mechanism to introduce a unified tourist visa.

Japarov noted that creating a common tourism space could provide significant opportunities for bringing the peoples of the region closer together. He said Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan have complementary tourism potential.

"Historical cities, mountain and Caspian Sea routes, and rich cultural heritage make it possible to combine efforts to promote Central Asia and Azerbaijan as an attractive travel destination," the Kyrgyz president emphasized.

He also expressed hope for continued support for Kyrgyzstan's initiative to introduce a unified tourist visa.

"We propose tasking our foreign ministries with developing specific mechanisms for its implementation," Japarov said.
